SOUTH Ayrshire 'Befriending Project' need new volunteers to sign up and make a difference to a young person's life.
The programme is situated on 4A Citadel Place in Ayr and needs help to provide 1:1 support from vulnerable socially isolated people from eight to 18.
Opportunities include meeting a young person once a fortnight for a couple of hours to share activities they enjoy or would like to gain experience in.
Group volunteers are asked to attend at least six events each year and can to responsible for a young person needing support.
Those in the vulnerable category benefit from the opportunity to broaden their horizon from having a positive relationship with a supportive adult.
Befriending can help young people feel better about themselves and boost confidence and self esteem. Volunteers can also have fun and gain satisfaction from sharing their time and experience with someone who needs them.
Training sessions are offered throughout the year. For more information call 01292 264000 or email info@bfriend.org.uk.
