NEW speed restrictions will also be introduced on Symington’s Main Street - bringing it into line with the rest of the village.
Drivers will soon have to observe the 20mph restriction and comply with double yellow lines at junctions to prevent obstructive parking and improve visibility for both drivers and pedestrians at three key junctions.
With a number of new housing developments in the area traffic is expected to increase. As a result road safety issues have been raised by some of the locals.
At South Ayrshire Council Regulatory Panel, Councillor Ian Douglas, said: “Are we applying the speed bumps here?”
Members were informed that there were no need for them in the town but this would be reconsidered if problems arose.
The aim is to make South Ayrshire roads as safe as possible.
