A TALENTED Prestwick teen is hitting the big stage as a part of the Bugsy Malone cast.

Kiera Bell, 15 from the town is excited to be taking up a role in the musical which will be in the Theatre Royal in Glasgow on Friday July 31 and Saturday August 1.

The Prestwick Academy student said: “I’m really excited. We start rehearsals on Monday and I’m not sure what I’ll be doing yet, but I’m just so excited to be apart of it.

“When I was four I joined the church junior choir. I love singing and music, and now I love musicals too.” Kiera has been performing with PACE Youth Theatre Group since she was 10 years old, making the trip up to Paisley to take part in them.

She said: “I’ve always had a passion for it. In the past I did Annie with the Ayr Amateur Operatic Society - it was brilliant because it was one of my favourite musicals at the time.

“I also did a pantomime with PACE last year and again that was great fun.

“I know one other girl from PACE who is also doing the show, so I’ll know someone.” The cast has two weeks to learn and rehearse the show before performing it over the two nights.

Proud mum Deborah said: “We are quite excited about it all. Kiera has done drama for a number of years and when we seen the advert online, we thought she should go for it.

“My husband, son and myself will be going up on the Saturday to see the show.”
