An Ayr girl is fulfilling her dream of performing on a West End stage - at the grand age of 11.

Rachel Gilchrist has been selected to perform a solo dance and sing in the ensemble of the Make A Wish Charity Gala in London’s Leicester Square Theatre on Sunday July 12.

The talented kid was scouted last year by Dorinda Duncan last October to take part in the UK National Showcase.

During the showcase, Rachel had to perform an acting monologue, scene read, commercial read, solo dance, solo vocal performance and runway modelling for a number of agents from the UK and US.

The judges at the even awarded Rachel the title of “Overall Child Talent” and she was signed to the Royal Berkshire Academy of Performing Arts (RBAPA) Agency. The youngster has been a part of the Karalyn Bell School of Dance in Troon since she was three years old and has risen to stardom from there.

Beaming mum Fiona Gilchrist said: “I’m very proud of her. She works so hard at everything she does and it’s great to see her doing so well - but her dad and I will be a little nervous on the night of the show.”
