Sheriff Iona McDonald has been appointed as one of four new Deputy Lieutenants for Ayrshire and Arran.
Sheriff McDonald, who lives in Ayr, started her legal career in the town at Mathie-Morton, Black and Buchanon as a legal assistant in 1980.
The mother-of-two became a partner in 1982 before being hired as a court reported in family cases and as a safeguarder in children's hearings between 1985 and 2000.
