FOOTBALL fans in Cumnock will get a different taste of the beautiful game tonight (Tuesday) as Ayr United come to town.
The Honest Men will take on Stenhousemuir in their second Group A tie in the Viaplay Cup at Townhead Park.
The venue change was announced shortly after the tournament draw was made, and is due to ongoing renovation of the playing surface at Somerset Park.
Lee Bullen's men were held to a draw by League Two champions Stirling Albion in their opening match at Forthbank on Saturday, with Ayr earning a bonus point after winning the penalty shoot-out that followed the 1-1 draw.
Fraser Bryden's 84th-minute goal took the game to penalties after Ross McGeachie gave Stirling the lead midway through the first half.
Stenhousemuir, meanwhile, gave the lie to their position in the bottom tier of the SPFL on Saturday when they defeated St Johnstone 1-0 at Ochilview, Euan O'Reilly scoring the only goal.
After tonight's tie, Ayr travel to face Troon in a friendly match at Portland Park this Saturday, July 22, before resuming their Viaplay Cup campaign against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on July 15.
At present the plan is for Ayr to return to Somerset Park for their final group match against Alloa Athletic on July 29.
Tickets are still available for tonight's match at £12 for an adult, £8 for concession and Juvenile, and £6 for a child.
They can be purchased on the Ayr United website.
