FOLLOWING their Gathering 2021 event in Rhyl selling out last week in less than two minutes, Mike Peters have unveiled even bigger plans for their 40th year.

The indefatigable Dyserth rock legend will bridge the gap between the sell-out event at Rhyl Town Hall next May and a Cardiff celebration with a 177-mile trek across Wales to raise funds for the Love Hope Strength foundation.

As if that wasn't enough, to mark the 40th anniversary of their first gig at the Royal Victoria Hotel, Prestatyn on June 5 1981, Mike, Jules and the band will plant 40 trees to create a secret 'sanctuary' for the charity.

Mike said: "To mark the beginning of our 40th Anniversary year in January 2021, we will be holding a public ceremony and planting 40 trees at a secret location in North Wales.

“I hope that the sanctuary will become a lasting reminder of our time on Earth, a place for loved ones to gather, to celebrate and to remember the loved and the lost, and to give back to planet Earth. One tree for every event of The Alarm’s fortieth year, one tree for every year of The Alarm’s time on this planet, and one branch for every member of The Alarm Family.”

As a prelude to the band’s Sigma UK tour shows next month in Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and London, the band have revealed the 40th Anniversary Celebration concert to be held at St David’s Hall on Saturday, June 5 2021.

The concert will be the finale to The Gathering 2021, which gets underway in the band’s hometown venue of Rhyl Town Hall on Friday, May 21 and Saturday 22 and will take place exactly 40 years to the day that the band performed their first ever gig as The Alarm.

In a run to this incredible milestone Mike and Jules - who have trekked Iceland, Snowdon and the Grand Canyon for Love Hope Strength - will undertake the Offa’s Dyke Rocks 12 day trek to make the date.

Mike added: "I will literally be linking The Alarm’s past to the present, walking from the site of our first ever show to St David’s Hall in Cardiff, where we will celebrate our official 40th Anniversary from 1981to 2021."

Tickets for the Cardiff St. David’s Hall 40th Anniversary gig will go on-sale at 10am on Tuesday, February 25.
