It's often the simplest games that prove the most fiendishly entertaining, and the DS seems to specialise in these kind of games - not graphics-heavy necessarily but just addictive.
If you've ever found yourself playing Diner Dash or Cake Mania until you were crosseyed, then Hell's Kitchen is definitely a game to whet your appetite.
Based on the popular TV show and fronted by Gordon Ramsey, Hell's Kitchen gives you the chance to juggle every aspect of restaurant service, trying to keep your diners happy till you rise through the ranks from lowly dish washer to head chef of your own five star restaurant.
You seat your guests, take their order, prepare and cook it, serve it, give them their bill and then clear the table - with the beady eyes of the head chef himself watching everything you do - and if you can't handle juggling all your guests' needs so none of them wait too long he will have his characteristic hissy fit and shut down your kitchen.
Juggling the different timings of different dishes for different tables and ensuring all your guests are happy to wait for their food is harder than you'd think and will leave you flitting between kitchen and dining room as fast as you can. It's a simple premise and easily picked up to play - although surprisingly tough to put down.
The graphics are simple but the premise on the whole is solid fun - well worth picking up if strategy games focusing on speed and concentration are your cup of tea.
