League leaders destroy Marr
Whitecraigs 66 Marr 7
Marr fell to a heavy defeat on Saturday at the hands of the league leaders Whitecraigs.
An under strength Marr were beaten 66-7 by the table toppers in a bad tempered match which saw Marr down to 13 men at one point.
Marr travelled without stand off Gavin Anderson, Captain Shawn Little and scrum half David Moffat which gave Marr an experimental back line with Sam Baird at scrum half, Rory Magee at stand off and Robbie Lockie and Andrew Gault in the centre.
Marr however never got going and missed too many tackles and Whitecraigs soon started to run in the points.
First in the sin bin for Marr was prop Stuart Evens who was given ten minutes to cool off for punching.
Stuart was joined in the bin by Steven Grant who was deemed to excessively use his feet when trying to clear the Whitecraigs players off the ball.
Winger Andrew Watson was also sent to the bin for foul language.
Marr"s problems were compounded by injuries, Stuart Evens was unable to retake the field due to injury and second row and vice captain Kevin Pattie succumbed to a back problem.
Marr"s only try was scored by prolific winger Andrew Watson, the conversion was added by Rory Magee.
A dispirited Marr had no answer to Whitecraigs who continued to run in points all afternoon. Coach John Sharkey was understandably very unhappy with Marr"s display and their poor tackling. Marr have two games left with a trip to ninth placed Strathmore next week.
The second 15 were due to entertain Cambuslang, however Cambuslang were unable to raise a team and Marr were therefore awarded a twenty point win. The second 15 have one fixture remaining next week away to Allen Glens.
Training continues this week but not on Monday night due to Marr College being closed for the school holidays, Thursday night training at Fullarton Park is on and starts at 7pm.
