ALL roads will lead to Troon on Saturday with a full house expected at Fullarton for what could be a blockbuster rugby derby.

BT Premiership newcomers Marr Rugby, who won the BT National League Division title last season, will play derby foes and reigning league champions Ayr RFC in what will be the first league meeting of the teams since 1991.

Former Ayr coach Craig Redpath will be in the home dug-out, while Calum Forrester will take charge of the visitors.

Both teams go into the match with contrasting fortunes. Marr had a bonus point defeat in their weekend game but drew the previous week, while Ayr have won two games on the bounce. However form tends do go out of the window in derbies

Redpath said: "So many people are talking about this game and we have all been looking forward to it. Ayr are a very good side and the clear favourites, who are expected to win the game. But hopefully we can spring a surprise. The winner of this game has bragging right as and it would be good if we could get a result. Hopefully we will have a really big crowd. It's great to have an Ayrshire derby in the Premiership.

Meanwhile Forrester is taking nothing for granted and is aware the home side have started well in the league.

He said: "Marr have had a great start to the season and have really embraced life in the BT Premiership. It's going to be a tough match but everyone is looking forward to the challenge.

This a brilliant time for rugby in Ayrshire and this first leg of the derby is going to be a great day."
