Ewen's past and present clubs clash as Ayr take on GHK last season

FANS" favourite Ewen Logan has retired from Ayr Rugby Club after a career spanning more than 20 years.

At the tender age of 35 years and 11 months, the popular prop has decided to call it a day having been a Millbrae stalwart almost since he first learned how to catch a rugby ball.

Apart from a two-season blip when he went to GHK , helping them to success in the 1996-97 Shield final beating Hawick 46-18, Ewen joked about his reasons for giving up the game.

He said: 'Just married, not fit, my dog and the family business - but not necessarily in that order - are why I am not coming back for another season"s toil at the coalface.

'And to be honest I am enjoying not going through pre-season torture for the first time since I was 17.'
