TROON'S EUROPEAN MATCH-UP

HOPES of a run in the European Cup for Troon, Prestwick and Ayr Volleyball Club were shattered at the Citadel Leisure Centre on Saturday.

The woman went down by three sets to nil against the mighty Belarussian side Kommunalnik of Mogilev in a European Challenge Cup Second Round second leg.

But the woman"s side by no means disgraced themselves.

The South Ayrshire side"s passing withstood a strong onslaught from the East Europeans.

But it was at the net that the visitors outclassed their hosts.

And Troon, Prestwick and Ayr are hopeful they can learn from their experience of playing a top level side.
