FORM team Troon FC are have given themselves a good chance of promotion following a vital weekend victory.
That was the claim from manager Jim Kirkwood after they defeated Shettleston 2-0 away in the Super League First Division.
This means if they win their remaining two games - at home to Rutherglen Glencairn and away to Larkhall Thistle, they will be promoted to the Championship, regardless of any other results.
Kirkwood said: "Shettleston are no great shakes but we went up there and took the three points. We are in a good position and we know our fate is in our own hands. I am hopeful we can win at Larkhall. Our home form hasn't been great but we most look to beat Rutherglen. I'm confident that we have enough in the tank to get over the line. Had we not slipped up in some games we would have been in a better position but you couldn't ask for much better than this."
However he admitted it was "a farce" dates hadn't yet been set for the games.
Meanwhile Troon on Saturday host Scottish Junior Cup finalists Auchinleck Talbot in the West of Scotland Cup third round.
Kirkwood said: "We want to test ourselves against higher league opposition and it will be a test. But we are home and will hopefully get through."
