PROMOTION remains the target for Troon FC, assistant boss Matt Maley confirmed this week following a morale-boosting victory.

However he insists the Seasiders will not look beyond the next game as they host Cumbernauld United following Saturday's 3-1 win away to high-flying Cambuslang Rangers.

Maley was impressed with the performance and said: "It was a good result and we started strongly in the first 15 or 20 minutes. The first two goals gave us a lift and we were at the top of our game. For 15 minutes at the start of the second half we didn't defend well. But we managed to control the game for the last 25 or 30 minutes. It was less about individual performances but we were more of a unit and kept our shape really well. The attitude of the boys in the whole squad was really good."

Looking ahead he said: "We are are focused on what we have to do but will not set any targets in terms of points. It looks like Petershill are going to win the league. We are focusing on one game at a time and there are five to go. We start at home to Cumbernauld on Saturday, we have a really good away following so hopefully people will come out and watch us. This is a massive game from which we must take three points. Our aim is to finish in the top four and we are not far away from it."
