CLYDEBANK 2

GIRVAN 1

IN a match spoiled by a strong wind and bumpy pitch, Girvan lost out to a late goal, with defeat putting a dent in their promotion challenge.

Girvan opened brightly and in 13 minutes a Steven McCreadie free-kick hit the wall and was cleared.

Three minutes before the interval Scott Johnston produced a fine save, turning a shot from 18 yards away to safety.

Nine minutes after the interval Girvan went ahead, Jamie Ballantyne bending the ball round the wall and into the net.

Visiting goalie Scott Johnston almost added a second for Girvan a minute later when his kick-out was misjudged by the home keeper but the ball went wide.

The lead only lasted two minutes as a home striker cut in from the wing and sent a shot across Johnston and into the net.

Five minutes later Johnston kept Girvan in the match with a fine one-on-one save.

Clydebank got the winner four minutes from time when a cross from one side of the field to the other was driven back across goal and was netted from six yards.
