WORRIED Troon FC boss Gordon Burns is warning his side must win on Saturday to stand any chance of beating the drop.

The Premier Division basement team host second-place Beith, knowing defeat will leave with virtually no chance of escape.

On Saturday they went down 3-1 away to leaders Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, to leave them anchored to bottom spot in the Super League Premier Division with just 16 points from 19 games with just five wins being secured during what has been a hugely disappointing season, considering they challenged for the title last term.

Their final two games are away to Auchinleck Talbot and Glenafton Athletic who are both making a strong challenge for the league.

The importance of the match is not lost on Burns, who is in his 10th season with the club.

He said: "I was disappointed not to take anything from the Rob Roy game, but two of the goals were scored from the penalty spot and one was a rebound from a penalty. Their striker Willie Sawers has a habit of going down in the box and I told the players that.

"That has to be one of the most important game for us since I came to the club. We really have to win to stand any chance of staying up as there are two tough games coming up. We are at home and must make the most of that.

"I would encourage the supporters to turn out in good numbers and give us their backing, hopefully we will attract a decent crowd. That should help."
