New Coin Holdings West of Scotland Cup Second Round

LARKHALL THISTLE 3

CRAIGMARK BURNTONIANS 3 (Craigmark won 5-4 on penalties)

CRAIGMARK moved into the third round with a late fightback and five well-taken penalties.

Larkhall with the wind behind them dominated the first half but it took them until midway through the half to take the lead when a corner was headed home.

A minute from half-time Marc Dyer lobbed the keeper but a defender got back to clear the ball off the goal line.

Larkhall doubled their lead on the hour with a fine run down the middle and a shot from the edge of the box beat Mark Higgins.

Craigmark were back in the match five minutes later Kieran Nisbet was pulled

down in the penalty area and Ryan McKay netted from the spot kick.

The tie appeared to be over when Larkhall added a third in 75 minutes as a free-kick into the box was netted with a diving header.

Eight minutes from time, substitute Mitchell Ewing ran through and sent an angled drive into the net to pull a goal back for Craigmark.

The equaliser arrived in three minutes into injury-time when Mitchell Ewing's shot was parried by the keeper and McKay was on hand to net.

So it was down to penalties. McKay scored the first for Craigmark with Higgins saving the first Larkhall kick. The other four Craigmark penalties were converted by Ewing, Lewis Kirkwood, Dyer and Scott Dempster as the Dalmellington side celebrated a fine victory.
