ANNBANK UNITED 1

MAYBOLE 2

by Matt Speirs

MAYBOLE deservedly picked up the points in an entertaining match at New Pebble Park, although their lack of finishing could have cost them.

Early play was pretty even but Maybole broke the deadlock in 15 minutes when Gavin Scott was played in and he beat a defender and shot into the net.

Four minutes later Roddy Paterson beat the offside trap but the Annbank striker was denied by Elliot Masterson.

Maybole should have doubled their lead on the half hour mark Gavin Scott had an effort saved by Marc Fisher the ball fell to Chris Allan, however he mis-hit his shot and the danger was cleared.

Maybole started the second half on the front foot and in 53 minutes Adam Caldwell was played in but he shot over the bar.

Two minutes later Chris Allan had a chance for Maybole but his lob over the keeper drifted wide of the post. Annbank substitute Maclean Simpson had a chance in 65 minutes but his shot was diverted.

The next chance fell to Maybole but Damien Boyle shot wide from the edge of the box.

The goal was only delayed for two minutes later Allan was played in and his fierce shot beat Fisher.

Annbank reduced the deficit in 89 minutes, Sean Robertson netting from eight yards.

In the last minute Scott shot over from six yards as the visitors held on to win.
