FOCUSED Troon boss Gordon Burns is going all out to close the gap on leaders Pollok on Saturday after the Seasiders stretched their unbeaten run to four games.

Second-placed Troon drew 1-1 away to a Glenafton Athletic side, who had defeated them earlier in the season.

Now they head to Glasgow to face Shettleston, knowing victory would move them within a point of 'Lok, who are on Scottish Junior Cup duty against Kilbirnie Ladeside.

Burns is impressed with his team's run and said: "I felt we could have won the game as we missed chances through Adam Forsyth and Dale Moore. The game was a bit scrappy but the positive thing is that we have taken 10 points from our last four games."

Looking ahead he said: "I expect it will be a difficult game as Shettleston are one of the more physical sides in the league. It will be a test but we will be going into the game looking to win it. Pollok and Talbot are both in the Scottish Cup so a win would put us a point behind Pollok and move us three points clear of Talbot. We are just looking to win as mjany games as we can and are not looking too far ahead.,"

Meanwhile former Troon manager John Redmond announced his return to Junior Football as boss of District League side Craigmark Burntonians.

He has appointed former Annbank United manager and ex-Portland Park player Jonny Baillie as his assistant.

And they take charge next Monday.

Redmond said: "I was doing broadcasting work but that has stopped. I have the hunger to get back into it. Hopefully we can finish in mid-table."
