Barr's Irn Bru Scottish First Division: AYR UNITED 0 MORTON 2

IF United needed an indication of how tough life was going be back in the First Division they found it on Saturday as they tumbled to defeat against a Morton side who had opened with two straight defeats.

The loss ended a proud home league unbeaten record whic had stretched for the whole of last season and while the woodwork denied the hosts on a couple of occasions in reality they were out-fought and outplayed by the Greenock side.
