INSPIRATIONAL midfielder Ryan Stevenson struck twice inside three minutes as United downed the stuffy Red Lichties to stay a poitn ahead of Raith Rovers with four games remaining.

Boss Brian Reid had selection problems ahead of this crunch clash against a home side battling to stave off the threat of relegation. Key defender Neil McGowan missed out with a groin strain while Ryan Borris was ruled out with a shoulder injury as Ayr went into the game with a light squad.
