AMBITIOUS boss Brian Reid's revamp of the Ayr United squad continued apace this week with the capture of former Hibs and Falkirk striker Tam McManus just before the transfer window closed.

And the highly experienced targetman, who is on board for the remainder of the season, could be in line to make his debut in the Active Nation Scottish Cup Fifth Round tie at Dundee.

McManus started his career with Hibernian, making his debut for the Easter Road club in 1999 and went on to become a first-team regular for Hibs, enjoying his best season in 2002-03, when he scored 11 goals finishing top goalscorer at the club.

After spells with Dundee, Falkirk and Dunfermline McManus moved to the USA making his Colorado Rapids debut on 12 April 2008, coming on as a half-time substitute in the game against New England Revolution. He scored his first Rapids goal in a 2-1 loss to Chicago Fire.

McManus (28) trained with Ayr in December and then went on trial with Grimsby Town for a week, but left after the trial period and returned to Scotland.
