AYR United's appeal against Lawrence Shankland's red card versus Stranraer on Saturday was unsuccessful at Hampden Park this morning.
The striker will serve a two-match suspension.
Thie verdict is a hammer blow for the targetman, who has banged in 29 goals, as it means he will miss the final two games which could see his club win the title.
Shankland was red-carded for violent conduct after an alleged elbows late in the first half.
He would be eligible for the playoffs, should the Honest Men fail to wrap up the league title.
