Ayr Rugby's coach Kenny Murray
Many people have commented to me that 'Ayr have the title in the bag'
Ask that question of those guiding the club in these heady times at Millbrae, however and you will get a much more cautious response.
Get this week's Ayr Advertiser and find out the thoughts of club president Billy McHarg, Rugby Director Jock Craig, Captain Damien Kelly and coach Kenny Murray - who all agree there is some work to do.
So Ayr go into 2009 with seven league games still to play - January 17 away to West; January 24 home to Selkirk, January 31 away to Boroughmuir; February 7 away to Currie; March 1 away to Watsonians, March 7 at home to Edinburgh Accies and finally at home to Hawks on March 28.
A tough run in indeed but one which, at some stage, will surely see Ayr playing for the title of top club in Scotland and there can be no greater incentive for Kenny Murray and his troops.
