REVITALISED Prestwick snapped a four-game losing streak as they overcame Poloc in a low-scoring encounter at the Henry Thow Oval.

Later skipper Shahzad Rafiq and top-scoring batsman Fraser Macdonald praise the team for their efforts.

Rafiq said: "It was good, the wicket was like a dustbowl. Fraser batted extremely well, he has been a standout this year. Poor umpiring decisions have not helped but it's more injuries that are the problem, we have had five or six players out.

"This should boost our confidence and we are back on the winning track, we look forward to the game at Dumfries next week."

Macdonald added: "I am over the moon, we were 40-4 and under a bit of pressure but I put on some good partnerships with Tom Fleet and Ross Patterson. The squad has been depleted so that has made it difficult."

Back to the action and Poloc won the toss and elected to bat.

The openers Amaan Ramzan and captain Craig Young put on 27 and 35 respectively before being bowled by Jacob Steber and run out by Tom Fleet.

There was then a major collapse, with only three more batsmen reaching double figures as Poloc were all out for 157.

Craig Rodger took 3-28, Macdonald 2-8 and Patterson 2-21.

Prestwick had a disappointing start with Rafiq bowled for three and fellow opener Faisal Jawad went for eight.

However Macdonald steadied the ship witih his 66 and he formed partnerships with Fleet and Patterson, while Gurupreet Singh was unbeaten on 13 as the hosts ended their innings on 158-6, giving them a four-wicket win.

They next face basement team Dumfries on Saturday.
