AYRSHIRE cyclists were well represented in Cycling Time Trials Scottish District 25 Mile Time Trial Championships on Sunday.

With Mark Skilling, Carrick Cycling Club, the first-placed Ayrshire rider in a time of 55 minutes 5 seconds for the distance. Ayr Roads/Harry Fairbairn rider Mark Warters also recorded a fine time of 56.34, in his first 25-mile TT of the season, finishing 21st out of a field of 120 competitors, with Harry Brawley recording a personal best, in only his second attempt at the distance. Harry recorded 1.01.33. John Gemmell followed with a 1.06.45 and Archie Arthur in his first ever attempt at the longer distance a 1.11.54 ride.

The winner on the day was multi-Scottish Champion John Archibald of Ribble Pro Cycling in a staggering time of 48.13, (31.11 mph).

Meanwhile the glorious weather last week had Ayr Roads cyclists out in force, with the Lake District hills favouring the pass stormer exploits of John Alexander. Nearer to home the midweek run took a group into Galloway recording a 90-mile run.

Sunday, the best day of the week saw the club run head for Sorn, via Galston returning via Mauchline.

In the club's 10 mile time trial on Thursday night, Calum MacDonald continued on his winning ways, in the league competition in a time of 22.14.
