WOULD-be Finn Russell's had an opportunity to hone their skills with the oval ball at a special event held during the recent school holidays.
Ayr Rugby Club hosted a camp at Millbrae, aimed at U8s-U14s and ran for the two full weeks, with more than 100 kids from across the community participating throughout the fortnight.
Everything went really well with many coming along and trying rugby for the first time and joining in with some more experienced players.
The purpose of the camp was to introduce and reinforce rugby within the community and hopefully get these kids coming down more regularly to the club and expanding our already very successful youth section.
The younger kids would do some skill based stuff primarily through games and learn by having a competitive element.
The senior S1s would do more contact based drills and skills also including the element of competition.
Feedback was well received and the kids seemed to enjoy it, it allowed them to have rugby throughout the school holidays and improve on there skills. It's something that we want to continue to do and certainly something we are looking to continue coming into summer.
