THE U14 boys side at Ayr Storm, coached by David Matthewson and Craig Tindle, were in dominating form when they came up against Glasgow Fever in the SLBA U14boys Cup semi-final.

Ayr went into the game with a degree of confidence as they had met the previous weekend in a league fixture which Storm, with a strong second half performance won 66-40.

This time though the Ayr boys came out strong right from the start and opened up a 10pt lead in the first five minutes and never looked back. Jackson Tindle was controlling the pace of the game and finding Harry Dorward who would score from outside or on the drive. Aydin Akar was dominating the boards and when Tindle found him inside, he was putting the shots away. The strong performance from the starting five meant the coaching team were able to run the full squad earlier than normal and all 12 players experienced good court time in a strong semi-final win. FT: Ayr Storm 67 Glasgow Fever 30

The final is played on Sunday at the Lagoon in Paisley - part of a full weekend of SLBA Cup finals with three on the Saturday and four on the Sunday.

Ayr will face Stirling Knights 10.15am tip off Sunday - and Knights are massive favourites having dominated the SLBA U14B league as well as winning the Scottish U14 National Challenge and runners up in the U14b Scottish Cup.

The boys will be the only Ayr team playing over the finals weekend - the SM, U16w, U16m and U18m all had good cup runs but fell at the semi-final stage (both U16m and U18m losing their games by just 3pts). However the club will be represented in another SLBA Cup final as on another date the U18women will play SL Colliers for the SLBA JW Cup (Ayr are current holders).

The Ayr Storm U16men have had a disappointing end to their league season with heavy defeats in the SLBA U16men league crossover games. They lot the 1st leg of the semi-final at Glasgow Rocks then in the home leg fell 61-82 and now go into a final game in Pasiley against St Mirren to decide who finishes third/fourth in the league table.
