MANCHESTER STORM 3 (after overtime)

AN AGONISING overtime defeat at Braehead on Sunday night ended a three-game winning streak for Clan.

A Luke Moffatt overtime goal helped Manchester Storm edge a dramatic game in a 3-2 victory in the battle to make the playoffs.

Manchester took the lead after nine minutes when they stormed up the inside right as Luke Moffatt got ahead of Christoffer Bjorklund.

His effort smashed off the bar before rebounding out where Dane Byers was on hand to deliver the finish.

The home side drew level soon after when Landon Oslanski, on the right side behind the goal, delivered the puck into the centre when Michal Gutwald probed home.

Zach Sullivan's night ended early when he came off worse in a challenge involving Shane Bakker, to the anger of the home support.

Braehead had a penalty shot in the early stages of the second when Adam Brace was impeded by Matt Stanisz, but Mike Clemente made the crucial block in the Storm goal.

The visitors thought they got a second when a chance from Byers took a deflection and went in, but was ruled off as former Clan favourite Jay Rosehill impeded Ryan Nie's crease.

A superb solo effort from Craig Peacock as he slalomed in from the inside right deserved a great finish, but Clemente managed to bat it away to safety.

Manchester had the lead by the end of the second when Scott Pitt's effort was stopped by Nie, with Linden Springer's rebound bouncing off the Clan goalie and behind him into the net.

Robbie Lepine got the equaliser early in the third when Brendan Brooks teed him up and the forward sent the shot into the top right-hand corner.

Gutwald got into an altercation with Linden Springer shortly after that saw the Clan D-man edge his opponent, to the delight of the home support.

The game went the distance and although Clan enjoyed good possession in the extra period, Moffatt's low effort beat Nie.
