McBookie Super League First Division

TENACIOUS Troon came from behind to topple Darvel and stay on course for promotion.

Hard work by the Darvel committee helped ensure the game went ahead with the pitch looking in not too bad shape considering the hammering it has taken with rain.

There were few chances in the first half as the teams had to adapt their game on a heavy pitch. The visitors made a change in 57 minutes when veteran defender Gavin Collins made way for Tony Murphy.

However Darvel took the lead seven minutes later when Sean Fitzharris netted.

In 68 minutes, Troon made another change, with Mark Curragh coming on for Evan Maley.

However a minute later it was all-square as Scott Chatham powerfully headed home a Stevie McCreadie cross.

Troon made their final change in 74 minutes when Lewis Clark replaced Ross Barbour.

However victory was sealed a minute later when goal provider McCreadie turned goalscorer, sending a delightful lob over the goalie's head and into the net.

TROON: McInnes; Barbour, Sherrie, Strachan, Collins, Chatham, McCreadie, Keenan, McKay, Pooler, Maley. Subs: Murphy, Curragh, Clark.
