DESPITE not having picked up a point in the Ardagh campaign so far, Maybole always give the bankies a tight game and this was really no different.

Six minutes into the first half and Jamie Martin headed wide before at the other end Maybole also sent an effort wide as the opening exchanges were shared.

In 13 minutes a scramble in the Bankies box nearly led to a Maybole goal, but there were simply too many bodies in the way. A minute later Maybole carved an opening down the left and the ball was slid low across the box but it was narrowly missed by a striker sliding in.

At the other end and a Scott Granger cut-back was met by Mark McKenzie but his strike was blocked, Andy Stevenson then had a shot saved after being played in by Jamie Martin.

Then in 22 minutes played Maybole shot over the bar over in a game that looked destined to be a draw with few clearcut chances. As the half came to a conclusion Marc Fisher had to look lively to make two fine saves and then Lee Sloan had a shot blocked for the Bankie.

The second half started with Fisher making a very routine save as Maybole looked to open the scoring but it was the Bankies who took the lead.

Then in 49 minutes, Mark McKenzie fired from the edge of the area and despite the Maybole keeper getting a hand too it the ball landed in the net.

Straight away Maybole got up the other end and dragged an effort wide. The Maybole keeper pulled of a fine save from another McKenzie effort before Scott Granger had the best chance of the game - a shot cannoned off the post and with the keeper beaten all he had to do was tap into the empty net but he missed the ball and the danger was cleared. The miss wouldn't cost the bankies though despite a final 10 minutes of constant Maybole pressure the defence and Fisher but an end to any further Maybole chances.
