IMPRESSIVE Craigmark were worthy winners against the Super First Division side at Station Park on Wednesday night.

The hosts, who have former assistant Ian Patterson in charge, began very well and took the lead in just five minutes when Scott Dempster sent a shot across goal which the visiting goalie dropped and the ball landed in the back of the net.

In 20 minutes the Seasiders levelled when Mark Curragh turned well and shot home from inside the box.

Before the break Troon midfielder Scott Chatham was sent off for violent conduct after an alleged off-the-ball kick at Ryan McKay.

Much of the second half saw chances at both ends with a deadlock looking likely.

However two minutes from time great opportunist play saw a shot from substitute Kyle Ferguson being parried by the visiting goalie, however Declan Dunlop followed up to slam the ball home and complete a great victory.

Manger Ian Patterson, who has ex-Raith Rovers Lloyd McKay, player/coach Greg Gallacher and Keith Ross in his backroom team, said: "We have started very well and it was a good win. It's great to be in management and thanks to Peter Leonard, John Redmond and Jim Kirkwood for their advice recently."

CRAIGMARK BURNTONIANS: McClymont; Lamont, Whitaker, McKay, Maxwell, Hall, Dunlop, McKay, Dempster, Barr. Subs: Gallacher, Dawson, Trialist, Muir, Ferguson.
