SCOTTISH National FootGolf Champion Gavin Craig has been officially announced as Scotland captain for the upcoming double header against England.

The inaugural Scotland v England event will take place at the end of the month with the return leg being a week later.

Prestwick man Gavin is relishing the challenge and said: “I am proud to have been chosen as captain for Scotland to take on the English. The England team has lots of strength and depth, as well as some of the best players in the world, but we will give it our very best shot. FootGolf is very much like golf in that everyone has good days and bad days.”

He added: “With the sport still being relatively young in this country you still have a chance of making the team, even if you have never played before. If you win the Forth Valley Open on the July 16 or the Lanarkshire Open on July 23, you automatically go into the team.”

To find out how to sign up go the FootGolf Scotland Facebook page or text Scottish FootGolf ambassador Paul Doherty on 07714671495.

Last week, Gavin finished fifth out of 90 players from all over the UK at the weekend in Cannock, England.

He is currently fourth in the UK rankings. The top 10 players at the end of August represent the UK at the European Team Championships in Paris this September.
