OVERJOYED Girvan FC skipper Scott Dinwoodie celebrated the proudest moment of his career when he was presented with the Super League First Division trophy last week.

Now the midfielder is relishing the prospect of playing in the Super League Premier Division for the first time next season.

They will go head-to-head with the likes of champions Glenafton Athletic, Auchinleck Talbot, Cumnock and Kilwinning Rangers after winning a place in the top flight for the first time in their history.

Dinwoodie (26) said after the 4-1Ayshire Weekly Press Cup final defeat against Cumnock: "Winning the league and going up to the Premier Division is the highlight of my career so far. We won the last five games and really deserved it. We have a great team spirit. I have been here for two years and was previously at Maybole with the boss Peter Leonard, as were quite a few of the other guys in the team.

"This is where I want to be playing in the Premier League. But there are a lot of good teams and our aim is to stay up."

Meanwhile Girvan will face newly-crowned Scottish Junior Cup winners Glenafton Athletic at Loch Park in the Evening Times Champions Cup semi-finals tonight (Wednesday),

However they will have to hope to shake off any hangovers from an end-of-season trip.

Dinwoodie said: "Myself and another seven of the players were in Benalmedina at the weekend and were due back on Monday night. But we look forward to the tie and will give it our best shot."
