IT's a big weekend for Ayr Storm as three of their teams head to the Lagoon Centre in Paisley to compete in their respective SLBA Cup Finals.

First up on Saturday are the U16 girls, led by head coach Maria Vasilaki, who will go into their game with South Lanarkshire Colliers as slight favourites, having finished their SLBA league season undefeated, and are the reigning Cup champions. However, captain Emily Nolan is taking nothing for granted and said: "The girls and I are really looking forward to the cup finals. We have worked hard this season and hope to end it with a win. We know Colliers will put up a strong fight so we will continue the hard work in preparation for the game.'

Hot on the girls' heels is the Junior Men's Final. Ayr's U18 men are the club's first male youth team to reach a Cup Final. Head coach Chris Morrison has worked wonders with the boys.

His team have competed in the National League for the first time this season and have more than held their own.

Lying in wait in the final are the league winners, Glasgow City, led by internationalist Alexander Geddes. Captain Arjun Nair knows the size of the task that lies ahead and commented: '"Participating in the Cup Final is a testament to how hard the team and I have worked the full season, so we would love to end it on a high. We know from our previous games against Glasgow City, that it will be fast pace, and lots of physicality, and that we need to be on our best form to win."

On Sunday, the club's Senior Women take centre stage.

Like the Junior Men, this is the first time the team has made a Cup Final.

In her third year as head coach, Lynsey Muir, has limited numbers at her disposal and has relied upon many of the club's U16 and U18 players to make up her squad this season, but she's been thrilled with the teams cup run and said: 'We've had two tough away games on our way to the Final and have come away with excellent wins. Our young team is delighted to be part of the season finale."

Reigning champions and league winners Glasgow Fever, provide the opposition for the Storm women.

Head of Coaching, Laura Nisbet said: "It's a huge boost for the club to have three teams going to the finals in Paisley this year. It will be a fantastic weekend of basketball to finish off our competitive season."
