AYR Storm's U16 girls finished off their SLBA league season with an emphatic win against St Mirren Buddies in Paisley.

After the disappointment of losing their National League semi-final play-off, to eventual winners Perth Phoenix, the week before, Storm bounced back in fine style with a strong team performance that ensured the Strathclyde League champions ended the season undefeated.

Ayr set out their stall from the opening tip, as Melissa Graham made a lay-up from Niamh Keenan's early pass. Ayr's full court press had the home team in trouble and Petra Kurcikova, Abbie Middleton, and captain Emily Nolan kept the scoreboard ticking over. The visitors ended the first quarter 31-7 ahead.

Centre Eve Meechan opened the second quarter with back-to-back baskets and U14 stars, Freya MacDonald and Michaela McNeil played well. The score at the half was 53-13.

Nolan bagged the opening seven points in the third period on her way to a game-high 29 points, coupled with 16 rebounds. The quarter ended with three-pointers from Middleton and Keenan making it 72-15.

Point guard Kurcikova then made two 3's, completing a 'triple double' of 20 points, 10 assists and 14 steals.

Middleton achieved a similar goal, with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals.

Storm's final basket was a three-pointer from guard Alex Breslin, Ayr running out 91-24 winners.
