REVENGE will be the spur for Whitletts Victoria when they head to North Ayrshire to face Ardeer Thistle on Saturday.

Whitletts on Saturday hammered Saltcoats Victoria 6-0 at Campbell Park - a week after they went down 3-2 at home to improving Ardeer in one of only two games in Ayrshire to survive the extreme weather.

Victory moved the Ayr side up to second place in the McBookie Ayrshire District League - five points behind leaders Ardrossan Winton Rovers - over whom they have two games in hand and in strong contention for promotion.

Manager Neil Duffy was delighted with the weekend display and said: "Everyone played well - I can't single out any players. Saltcoats are a team in transition and we totally dominated the match from start to finish. We could have won even more convincingly had we taken some of our other chances. Already we have passed our points total from last season."

Looking ahead the former Ayr United and Dundee United defender, who took charge midway through last season, said: "It was a disappointing result against Ardeer the other week and we learned from it. But we have an opportunity for revenge and must look to take the three points at Ardeer on Saturday. The objective between now and the end of the season is to win all our games so we can be guaranteed promotion. That has always been our target."

Vics have no injury problems ahead of the game.
