AYR United striker Farid El Alagui was delighted to bag his first goal and help the Honest Men to a much needed win against Raith Rovers.
The Ayrshire side's quest for Championship survival had stalled in recent weeks but a first league win in 15 attempts has left them just one point away from escaping the relegation play-offs.
El Alagui felt his side responded in the perfect way to Saturday's defeat to St Mirren.

He said: "I think, especially after Saturday, we were all disappointed as a result and we played tonight to put things right. Obviously Raith Rovers are just above us so it was really important to get the three points.
"I’m delighted to score but most importantly, I was very happy to get the three points.
"I think it was a crazy run with no wins but it was a lot of draws as well. It was this kind of game that I think it’s important you turn them into a victory so of course it will give us a lift."
Ahead of the match, a goalkeeping crisis in Kirkcaldy left Raith without a first team keeper and when requests for an emergency loan and a postponement were denied, Ayr legend Ryan Stevenson borrowed a set of Cammy Bell's gloves from teammate Ryan Hardie for the night.
El Alagui felt that Ayr could have done without Rovers' keeper crisis.

He said: "Football is a bit crazy at times and we didn’t need that to have more pressure on us. We were already under pressure and especially at home we needed to win.
"There was no other option for us.
"The goalkeeper situation is something I don’t think I’ve experienced before but we just had to deal with it and forget about it. At the end of the day it’s a normal game and you just try to do things right and obviously score goals."
A shoot-on-sight policy was expected from the Honest Men but shot-shy Ayr only tested the stand-in keeper twice in the first half.
El Alagui admitted that wasn't manager Ian McCall's plan. He added: "He [McCall] just said “Any time we are in a good position, have a go” but it’s like every other game, you would try and fancy yourself. Obviously, he’s an outfield player so you would try maybe more attempts because you can maybe expect a mistake but credit to him.
"I think he has been outstanding for them. He’s done some really good saves, especially first minute. I had the header and he went down very quick.
"I was quite impressed so credit to him because I think he’s done really well for them."
The French-Moroccan striker is cup-tied and will miss this weekend's trip to Easter Road in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup. However, he felt the game could be a lift to his teammates. El Alagui said: "The Scottish Cup at the weekend will take us away and that will be a bonus for the club and a great platform to try and get a result.
"Obviously the pressure will be on Hibs but I think it will be a good lift for the boys as well and obviously after that we will get back to business and hopefully get another win."
