AFTER the disappointment of the overtime loss to Renfrew Rocks in the SLBA cup, the Ayr Storm men's first team had the chance to bounce back and switch focus to the league - with a road trip to play Glasgow Storm.

The Glasgow side are at the wrong end of the table, but have been improving since the opening week of the season when the two sides met and Ayr won 82-40.

The team arrived at the Glasgow venue to find it a chilly hall with poor grip.

The home side seemed to get over this quicker and took an early lead.

Coach Steve Moug was missing three of his squad through injury and two due to work commitments but knew there was no need to panic about trailing so early. Sure enough Dan Bajwoluk (game-high 22 points) found space to drive to the basket and Sam Wallace (13 points) found his range and the game was quickly tied.

Glasgow, though refused to give up and each time Ayr thought they had pulled away the home side would take a bite out the lead and going into the final five minutes of a low scoring game, the only thing clear was a team called storm would take the win! A couple of big rebounds by Tony Low-Macrae (9pts) that he then scored off helped open a double digit lead for the first time and coach Moug (8pts) was able to have his side slow the team down and play the game out.

The coach said: "It was great to get another road win and join Rocks and Fever on the same points at the top of the league. We now know what we have to do to keep up a challenge for the SLBA Division Two league title."

FT: Glasgow Storm 46 Ayr Storm 58.

It was the opposite effect of the cup for the U18 men - with a semi-final win under their belt, they returned to league action with a trip to Renfrew Rocks.

Coach Morrison had players missing due to study for prelim exams and new it would be a tough game. Rocks were at full strength and used that to reverse an early lead by Ayr and control the game and take the win.

This SLBA loss made it back-to-back losses for the Ayr side as a couple of days earlier they lost at home in SBC U18 Men Division Two to West Lothian Wolves. FT was 54-76.

However coach Morrison was please to see the improvement the team had made so far over the season - the away fixture back in October was a heavy 107-39 loss.
