WORRIED Troon FC manager Gordon Burns is desperate to get back into action after his team's league clash with Hurlford United at Portland Park fell victim to the weather.

A combination of snow and frost covering an already waterlogged pitch meant the clash with Hurlford United was called off.

Now the Seasiders manager fears Saturday's scheduled Scottish Cup Fourth Round tie away to Darvel could also be in doubt and said: "We really needed a game before the cup tie and a planned home friendly against Maybole was also called off because the pitch was waterlogged. Our pitch normally holds up but the groundsman Gus Hollas says it has been raining for nine weeks and it can't sustain that. The last game we played was on December 19 which doesn't help. It was much the same last year. Our Scottish Cup tie at Camelon was called off a few times and we were out of action for quite a while. The way things are going the cup tie could also be off."

Meanwhile Whitletts Victoria manager Neil Duffy, the former Portland Park assistant boss, completed his first two signings in the last few days.

Vics have secured midfielder Lee McCrea from Super League First Division side Ardrossan Winton Rovers and defender Lee Anderson from Ayrshire District League derby rivals Annbank United.

McCrea (27) has joined the club on a two- month loan deal and will go straight into the squad for Saturday's away league game against Saltcoats Victoria at Campbell Park.

The former Girvan midfielder was manager Neil Duffy's first signing since taking over at the helm of the Dam Park club last month.

Anderson (21) has joined for a nominal fee and is also set to feature in the first team squad.
