THE 5k Time Trial Christmas Handicap for 2015 took place last Tuesday.

This year's race was the inaugural memorial race for the Ian Baird Trophy.

The event was named named in memory of long-standing Ayr Seaforth AC club member Ian Baird who recently passed away.

The format for the race is quite simple with all runners being given a time handicap based on their ability over the distance.

It was pleasing to see a large turnout for the race which was testament to the esteem in which Ian was held.

Kirsty Green won the event, while Alexander Park was runner-up and Lynsey Cooper came in third.

Full results were, as follows:

1 Kirsty Green, 2 Alexander Park, 3 Lynsey Cooper, 4 Grant Woodburn, 5 Janice McKellar, 6 Peter Laing, 7 John Ross, 8 John Strachan, 9 Iain Pettigrew, 10 Davie Jones, 11 Susie Hubbard, 12 Stuart McColm, 13 Gael Riddle, 14 Stephen McDowall, 15 Stuart Brockie, 16 Kenny Neill, 17. Unfortunately this was on the same day as this year's West District Cross Country Championships which meant almost all of the middle distance runners were at the cross country and unavailable for the indoor match, nevertheless there were other athletes willing to take the step up and represent the club where possible.

Notable result for Ayr Seaforth AC athletes included Ben Edwards winning the U11 Boys 60m A String event in 9.82 seconds and Euan Duff victorious in the U15 Boys long jump with 5..45 metres.
