A GROUP of eight Seaforth members competed in the recent Stranraer 10k .

The route for the race includes a large hill after mile two and with damp weather conditions it certainly proved a tough race.

Leading the Seaforth members home was Kenny Neill, who finished second in a time of 34.11.

Steven Reid marked his return to competing for Seaforth with a fourth place finish, closely followed by Craig McPike in fifth and Steven Eaglesham in seventh place..

Stephen McCrorie finished in 10th place which placed him second in the male 40-45 age category.

Ross Green, Kirsty Green and Janice McKellar also ran good races despite only arriving two minutes prior to the start having had to follow a long diversion on the roads to Stranraer. Kenny Neill, Steven Reid and Craig McPike won the male team prize.

THE last event in the 2015 Scottish Ultra Marathon Series took place, with six Seaforth runners battling hard at the undulating Glen Ogle 33mile ultra marathon at Killin near Loch Tay.

With 2,800 feet of climbing and some biblical rain en route, it was a tough shift.

Kevin Bloy led the way finishing in 4hrs:29minutes, Barry Duddy 4:31, Andrew Crichton 4:46, James Murray 5:25 and John Strachan in an impressive 5:41 in his Ultra Marathon debut. Ian Young unfortunately had to pull out at 22 miles due to injury, this is the unfortunate nature of these tough ultras.
