MAYBOLE 3

CLYDEBANK 4

MAYBOLE were victims of hugely controversial refereeing decisions as they went down to a Clydebank side who moved into top spot with victory.

Bankies were awarded three disputed penalties and the visitors' final goal came about after a foul on Mark Cameron was missed by the referee.

Maybole boss Carlo Walker couldn't believe his side had been so hard done by and said afterwards "That's the sickest I have been as a player and as a manager and I don't normally blame referees. The first penalty was very soft, the second was handball but wasn't deliberate as Graham Whittaker was on the ground and the other one was for a foul outside the box. Play should have been stopped in the build-up to their fourth goal as Mark Cameron was pole=axed with a head knock. We were winning 3-1 and even at 3-2 had we taken chance we could have wont the game. We are in a relegation fight but Maybole often are and we will keep battling away."

Bole are away to Beith in the New Coin Holdings West of Scotland Cup on Saturday and Walker said: "It's a big test but we will be going all out to win it,."

Bankies started strongly and should have gone ahead in four minutes when Joel Kasubandi was sent clear one-one-one with Grant Weir but the home goalie made a superb save to foil him.

The visitors went ahead in 27 minutes when Allan Vezza sent in a fierce shot which was palmed away by Weir. Joel Kasubandi picked up the loose ball and turned it back to Steven Young who netted.

Six minutes later Clydebank were awarded a penalty-kick. However Weir however saved Kasubandi's effort.

Maybole did not lose heart and equalised in in 36 minutes whenAndy Stevenson crossed for Steven Shankland to head into the net.

Three minutes later the hosts went ahead when an Alan Love corner-kick was headed back across goal by James Cuthbertson and Andy Stevenson netted.

Walker's side added a third goal two minutes from the interval when Chris Todd crossed to Michael Reilly who netted..

Four minutes after the interval controversy raged when a low ball into the box hit the arm of Graham Whittaker who was lying on the ground with his hands at his side. A penalty was given and this time Young made no mistake from the spot.

Three minutes later Reilly sent a 20-yard drive goalwards but the ball rebounded to safety from the post.

Clydebank were awarded another penalty five minutes from time with Whittaker penalised. Young gaveWeir no chance from the penalty spot to complete his hat-trick.

Deep into injury-time Cameron was blatantly fouled in the centre of the field but the referee allowed play to continue and substitute Ryan Holmes ran through to slip the ball beyond Weir to seal an ill-deserved victory.
