REJUVENATED midfielder Robbie Crawford is aiming for title glory after helping record-breaking Ayr United return to the top of the table,

United are now officially the best team in Scotland after extending their unbeaten run to 11 games following a 3-1 home win against derby rivals Stranraer in Ladbrokes League One.

They are now a point ahead of closest challengers Dunfermline Athletic..

Crawford as delighted with the result and said: "I Just hit the ball and hoped.. When I turned round it was in. That was only the second goal of my career and without doubt the best I have scored. It was only my second career goal, my other one was away to Dunfermline Athletic.. The manager told me and Jamie Adams he wanted to see more goals from us before the game so it was nice we scored. It's great working with Ian as he really believes in me,"

The midfielder is now looking forward to Saturday's visit to Glebe Park to face Brechin City but insists they go there with confidence and said: "We must take each game as it comes and Brechin is a difficult place to go but we must aim to pick up there points.. The bosys in the dressing room are all together and we want to win the league."

Crawford is also unfazed by the prospect of hosing Dunfermline the third round of the William Hill Scottish Cup on November 28 and said: "We have already beaten them away and we want to win our home games so we will be looking to go through."

Manager Ian McCall was impressed with his team as they extended their run and said: "We thoroughly deserved to win the game although were not right at it. We could have had three penalty claims turned down. I was also delighted with the crowd today, we had more than 1400 there which was great considering the racing won. The fans gave us great backing and its great for them we are top of the league. It w as a superb goal from Robbie Crawford."

The gaffer is looking for more of the same at Brechin on Saturday and said: "It's important to stay unbeaten as we're on a great run. But we will be looking to win the game."

Craig Moore and Brian Gilmour are both set to miss the match through injury.
