THE Walker Hall may not be getting its £3million renovation as the council reveal more jobs and buildings will need to be axed.

The upgrade of the hall on South Beach had been set aside in this year"s budget but financial restraints may mean it will not even get close the full amount.

The recent revelation came at last week"s Leadership Panel in Ayr"s County Building by council officers and members.

On Troon"s Walker Hall, South Ayrshire Council"s Property and Design manager, Bill Gray said: 'It is a practical building. It"s a significant amount of investment and the council is committed to a spend of £25,000 in relation to the building and which will see it rewired and refurbish work.

'We will be able to look at putting more staff into that area and perhaps make better use of one stop shop facilities.

'We are not committed to the full programme (of £3million) and will be looking at that better in relation to the currently spending and refurbishment.'
