A MAN has been arrested for allegedly growing £200-£300 worth of cannabis plants at a house in Troon.

It is claimed at 8.40pm on Thursday, December 7 the 40-year-old was arrested for being involved in producing the substance at Afton Gardens as well as being in possession of the drug.

He was also charged with bypassing his metre in an attempt to steal electricity.

The Ayr Advertiser Series understands that police attended the property with a search warrant and the individual was arrested for being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

It is believed that a number of plants were found in the property with an estimated street value between £200 and £300.

The man was arrested and charged but was released on under taking. He is due to appear at court at a later date.
