A MAN who called his partner a “f**king turncoat” has been released on bail.

William Johnstone admitted to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards his partner of six years, where he uttered threats of violence and offensive remarks.

The 48-year-old appeared before Sheriff Mhari McTaggart at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Depute Fiscal, Lorri Pidgeon, explained: “The accused had been in a relationship with the complainer for six years, on and off.

“On the morning in question, the complainer had an argument with the accused and then he left.

“The complainer was then told by a friend that the accused was in Boswell Park with a head injury.

“He was noted to be heavily under the influence of alcohol when the complainer went to find him and he shouted “f**k you”.

“He also said, “you are nothing but a f**king turncoat” and that people where coming to “get her” and “fight with her”.

“The complainer went into the Spar shop near to where she was to ask for help and they told her that there was a phone box at the bus station.

“The accused continued to be aggressive towards the complainer.

“She got the bus station when she saw two police officers and told them what had happened.

“The search was carried out on the accused by the officers, however, they could not caution and charge him due to his level of intoxication.”

Johnstone’s defence solicitor, Robert Logan, asked for his sentence to be deferred for reports to be ready.
