RESIDENTS at Mears Belhaven Day Centre in Prestwick celebrated the summer tennis season in a unique fashion.

The older Ayrshire folks that enjoy some of their week-days in Mears Belhaven Day Care Centre were entertained during the tennis season to games indoors – competing with each other with balloons and bats, thanks to an energetic management team who aim to keep their days lively.

The day care centre is run by manager Lynn Skedd said: “I don’t know who has the most fun, our service users who come to the centre for a day or two a week or all of us in the management team who have created some really fun things to entertain and generate a bit of activity.”

With a combined age of 629 in this picture, there was plenty to love. Mears Belhaven Day Care Centre provides services to a wide range of locals, aged from 52 to 101. 

Additional support includes companionship, respite for families, hot meals, and regular activities help to ensure a better quality of life in older age for those who live independently in their own homes. Transport from home is included.
