A team from LMA Architects in Ayr are set to climb Goatfell on the Isle of Arran this August to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.

Accompanied by resident ‘Barkitect’ Daisy the dog, the crew has been inspired to tackle the challenge by a colleague in the practice who has the condition.

Daynah Hill, Practice Manager, said: “‘Giving Back’ is important to everyone here at LMA and every year we adopt a charity and set ourselves a challenge to raise awareness and funds for that cause. This year our chosen charity is Parkinson’s UK – it’s especially important to us as our colleague lives with the condition.”

“On August 11, we are going to climb Goatfell together - hopefully with a few laughs along the way. As well as raising funds through sponsorship we’ll be raising awareness of Parkinson’s too – that’s where Daisy the Barkitect will be a big help.

“All the money we raise will go towards research into finding a cure for Parkinson’s as well as towards services that improve the quality of life for people living with the condition - to make life even just a little easier for someone is incentive enough for us.”

Jan Mattison, west Scotland regional fundraiser for Parkinson’s UK, added: “Parkinson’s UK is delighted to have the support of the team at LMA Architects.

“Our world-leading scientific research to find a cure for Parkinson’s will benefit and we know too that our locally-provided services are highly valued by people with Parkinson’s and their families.

“It’s only through the generosity of individuals and businesses like LMA that we can provide vital services and the charity really appreciates their efforts.”
