TWO applications have been submitted for the construction of a waste energy facility and the extension of a landfill site in Tarbolton.

Both proposals tie together at the Moss Landfill Site, north east to Tarbolton and were submitted to South Ayrshire Council on May 12.

The proposal of the first application is to construct and operate a waste to energy facility for the treatment of 150,000 tonnes per annum of non-hazardous waste with the second being the extension of landfill operations to the east and extension of the existing landfill operations.

The application, made to South Ayrshire Council by Tarbolton Landfill Limited, has been approved for pre-application consultation.

The earliest for the proposal to go to the planning board to receive planning permission for the development can take up to 12 weeks.

It has, however, been advised to formally notify residents in the surrounding area of the proposed site.

It is also recommended for the applicant to issue letters prior to a public event where locals can come and see what is being proposed and highlight the description of the development.

The applicant intends to send residents of Tarbolton copies of the proposal of application notice due to there not being a community council.

There will also be an advert sent out publicising the details of a public exhibition drop in session which is to be held in June but the exact date still to be determined.
